Biography

Mark Zumberge has worked at IGPP since 1982. Currently he is a Research Geophysicist and Senior Lecturer. He received a bachelor's degree in physics from the University of Michigan in 1976, and a PhD in physics from the University of Colorado in 1981.His early research was in absolute gravity, when he co-developed a free-fal l interferometric absolute gravity meter with James Faller at JILA, the University of Colorado. Since then a number of projects in geophysical instrument development have ensued.

Graduate students who have been advised by Dr. Zumberge include Glenn Sasagawa (PhD, 1989); Dong-Xiao Yu, (MS, 1989); Mark Stevenson (PhD, 1992); Eric Canuteson (PhD, 1996); and Jeff Ridgway (PhD, 1997) .

Dr. Zumberge is currently Deputy Director of IGPP.
